The Georgia Baptist Pastors Day at the state Capitol is happening Thursday, January 27, 2022!

This year, we’re combining the Legislative Prayer Breakfast into the annual Pastors Day at the Capitol! Therefore, we encourage you to join us at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast and to hear from legislators, public policy experts and activists from across the nation.

Pastor Jeff Stucker will be bringing the message during the Legislative Prayer Breakfast. He is not only a Georgia Baptist pastor, but also a veteran of the US Army with 22 years of service. He was a part of the situation known as “Black Hawk Down” when US troops where in Somalia. In 2017, he was inducted into the US Army Ranger Hall of Fame. He is currently the lead pastor of 2 Cities Church in Columbus, Ga.

Harrison Smith is a Regional Alliance Defending Freedom Director for the ADF Church Alliance program. After breakfast, he will be giving a religious liberty update. His passion for the gospel and understanding of current laws and issues are very motivating. He will inform us on the cases and legislation that are happening around the country and how they will be affecting the church.

Former six-term U.S. Rep. Bob McEwen will be speaking during the mid-morning session. Prior to Congress, he served three terms in the Ohio House of Representatives and he is currently the Executive Director of the Council for National Policy. He will be advising us on the uniqueness of our nation and how important it is for citizens to stand-up for their God-given rights. You don’t want to miss this!

Finally, during the lunch-time session, we will be hearing from Dean Nelson, the Executive Director of the Human Coalition. This organization is “a champion of life, committed to an audacious mission: to transform our culture of death into a culture of life—to end abortion in America.” Mr. Nelson is also the Chairman of the [Fredrick] Douglass Leadership Institute which, educates, equips, and empowers faith leaders to embrace and apply biblical principles to life and in the marketplace.

In addition to the speaker sessions, we will also participate in a tour of the State Capitol before lunch. This will give our participants a better understanding of how to communicate with the legislators when in person at the capitol.

So, make plans now come and be with us. Every legislator, pastor, pastor’s wife, and ministry leader are invited to discover how to navigate the political landscape for the sake of the gospel.

Also, we encourage all our pastors to invite your legislator to breakfast! This is a great time to engage them in a personal and spiritual way! If you don’t know who they are please check out the following link. Find out here. They can register at the same site everyone else is registering.

Space is limited, so in encourage you to register today! Registration is free, but both breakfast and lunch will be offered as add-ons for $10 apiece. The sign up and the full schedule can be found online at gabaptist.org/event/pastorsday.

I’ll look forward to seeing you at this year’s event!
