AUGUSTA, Ga. – Some of the state’s most successful pastors will speak at the Georgia Baptist Preaching Conference set for Nov. 14 at Warren Baptist Church in Augusta.

“Each of these men were chosen for the Preaching Conference because they exemplify powerful preaching in their own churches,” said Johnny Nix, president of the Preaching Conference, which will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. “They are not celebrities; they are servants of God. They are men living out ‘The Commission.’”

The Preaching Conference is held each year with the Georgia Baptist Convention’s annual meeting, which is set for Nov. 13-15 at Warren Baptist Church.

Nix said the theme of the Preaching Conference is The Commission, based on Mark 16:15.

“It is the Great Commission that embodies what we are as Georgia Baptists,” he said. “We have no greater task than to be on mission for our Lord.”

Nix said the speakers have proven their commitment to the Great Commission. Here are Nix’s descriptions of the speakers:

“Pastor Brad Whitt has just finished 10 years at Abilene Baptist in Augusta. He has led Abilene Baptist to vibrancy and continued growth under his leadership.

“Pastor Jeff Crook has led Christ Place Church in such a dynamic way. He is a leader that exemplifies character and loves Jesus.

“Pastor Dennis Watson is a Georgia Baptist treasure. He has faithfully led Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church in Gospel ministry for well over 40 years.

"Pastor Zach Terry has a unique ability to communicate and a passion for souls. He is the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach, Florida. He and his wife Julie recently founded Maximum Life Ministries, a platform to share the Gospel through radio, podcasts, etc.”

Leading worship at the Preaching Conference will be Jonathan and Aimee Hoyle from First Baptist Church in McCaysville, Ga.
