Dr. Clark Gilbert Hutchinson, 84, went home to Jesus, on Easter morning, Sunday, April 5, 2026.

Clark was born on March 10, 1942, in Hamburg, Iowa, to Dr. J. Gilbert Hutchinson and Arlene Goll Hutchinson. Arlene passed away shortly after childbirth. When Clark was five, his father remarried, Frances Ewton Hutchinson, and the family relocated to Clanton, Alabama, where he was raised and formed the strong values and character that would guide him throughout his life.

He carried with him a deep sense of faith, compassion, and dedication to others.

He pursued higher education at Baylor University and later Southwestern Theological Seminary. He received his doctorate degree from Luther Rice Seminary. Clark pastored churches in Troy, Alabama, Marietta, Georgia, and Cartersville, Georgia. He served the Lord for over fifty years and led countless people to Christ.

During his ministry at Eastside Baptist in Marietta, Hutchinson led the church to construct a Christian Activities Center that was later renamed the “Clark and Josephine Hutchinson Center.”

Clark’s life was marked by his devotion to his faith, his love for his family, and his steady presence as a source of wisdom and encouragement to those around him.

Clark was devoted to his beloved bride, Josephine Moore Hutchinson, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and enduring love.

He is survived by his children: Joseph Hutchinson (Christin), Tom Hutchinson (Andrea), and Corye Harrison (Ben). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Adriene, Adair, and Josie; Clarke and Sutton; and step-grandchildren Sean (Lindsey), Sydney, Ben, and Ainsley. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Those who knew Clark will remember his kind heart, thoughtful nature, unwavering integrity, and bold vision for growing the Kingdom.

Clark’s passing on Easter morning—a day symbolizing hope, renewal, and resurrection—offers a meaningful reflection of the faith that sustained him throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton, Alabama, with Rev. Richard Sims officiating.

Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery.
