MARIETTA, Ga. — More than 150 Spanish-speaking Georgia Baptists from 23 churches gathered Saturday for the 2023 Hispanic Church Strengthening Conference organized by the Georgia Baptist Mission Board.
Participants heard a keynote talk on leadership from Esteban Vazquez, associate pastor at Champion Forest Baptist Chiurch in Houston, Texas.
Breakout sessions focused on youth ministry, women's ministry, evangelism, discipleship, missions and music.
At the event, Rafael Valter, pastor of Iglesia Bautista Agape in Stone Mountain, announced that Tim Akin, pastor of First Baptist Church of Douglasville, will nominate Javier Lopez for vice president of the Georgia Baptist Convention at the annual meeting in November.
