SBC's sexual abuse task force opens door for firms other than Guidepost Solutions

Leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention’'s Abuse Reform Implementation Task Force announced a strategic turn in their efforts to establish and maintain a Ministry Check website to track church leaders who have been credibly charged with sexual abuse.

They are no longer focused on partnering with only one firm, Guidepost Solutions, to do all the work, the task force said in an awkwardly worded statement released Tuesday.

The task force said members voted to consider “alternative pathways” and did so "in the spirit of unity and cooperation.”

The work would be divided “among smaller firms which share our values,” the task force said in the statement.

The task force said it is evaluating additional firms that “meet our qualifications for the highest professional standards.”
