ELLIJAY — Sunday, September 17, 2023 marked the 25th anniversary that Scott and Paige Eaton have lovingly and sacrificially served First Baptist Church Ellijay. Scott’s ministry has gone beyond his initial hire and responsibility of music.

His efforts towards children’s ministry choir, student ministry choir and student arts, adult sanctuary choir and the glory singers senior adult choir are just a sampling of the activities he has been involved in. From Passion Plays to concerts, Easter musicals to the North Georgia Christmas Praise, Christmas Eve services and bringing in choirs and musicians for numerous church and community programs, Scott has worked tirelessly to make sure God is glorified through it all.

While Scott has led this church in the musical aspect of worship for over two decades, he has also cared for our church family in countless ways. He has served this faith family by officiating funerals and marriage ceremonies, he faithfully preached the Word of God in this pulpit and was nominated to lead as an elder with our churches transition to elder leadership. This speaks volumes to Scotts character, integrity and love for Jesus.

Personally speaking, Scott and I have worked alongside each other for many years. I have seen how he responds in difficult situations. Scott has been one that has strived for peace and unity. Scott has been one that has pursued personal holiness.

Scott has been one that has risen to the calling of the Lord. He has led not only our church locally but also within the Georgia Baptist Mission Board as a music and worship consultant for sister churches in our region. Scott has made making Jesus known in our community, in our state, in our nation and around the world a priority. This is evident in the many mission trips and projects he has been apart of and has planned.

Scott, we thank you as your church family for your ministry to us and I thank you for your friendship and ministry to me personally. I pray that God will continue to bless your ministry to this church and to this community. We praise the Lord for you and we love you.
