In church this past Sunday, a couple of lines from a song we sang have just stuck with me. It said, "When I think of all You've done, when I think of all You've brought me through. When I think about your love, I could never say enough thank yous."
It started me thinking about how thankful I am for all the times God has brought me through. I think about the times when I have been exhausted both physically and mentally.
One of those times was during a tough season with both my dad and my husband. My dad lived in Texas, and he was in the hospital. We knew he didn't have much time left. Wayne just had surgery on his foot, and he could not walk for several weeks. I was torn. I wanted to be in both places at one time, and of course I couldn't. I ended up flying to Texas and staying several days, and then flying back to Georgia to help Wayne. I did this several times, and I was both physically and mentally exhausted. I am so thankful God brought me through this time. I think of Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."
I have precious memories of times when we have been able to travel on mission trips or just for a vacation. The different beautiful sites you see around the world can be amazing. The different people you meet along your travels add value to your trip. You get to hear their stories and see how God has brought them through. I look at the sunrises and sunsets and marvel at how great a God we have. I am so thankful that through God our world and everything in it was made. I think about John 1:3, "God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him".
I am also thankful for my and my family members' salvation. I don't know how you get through this life without Christ. You have to have the hope of Christ. This life is not always easy. There are hard times when you have to have hope. If I didn't have the hope of Christ in my life, I am sure I would not have been able to handle some of the difficult times I have faced. Because of my salvation, I have hope, faith, trust, and joy in my Savior. There is only one way to salvation. I am so thankful God made a way through Jesus. I think of John 14:6, "Jesus said I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
The definition of through is "completely or fully" or "from one side to the other." God is the only One who can bring us through. God will complete what He starts, see it through fully to the end, and take us from this life to the promise of heaven. I don't know about you, but I am so thankful He provides and brings me through.
My prayer this Thanksgiving is that you and I will remember all the ways He has brought us through. He is faithful, merciful, forgiving, life-changing, loving, and so many other things in our lives. I am so very thankful for God and every day that He sees me through. Romans 11:36 says, "For from Him and through Him and for Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever."
