Thursday thoughts: When struggles come, keep walking

Posted

I don't know about you, but it is so hard for me to get motivated when I am struggling. I almost feel like I don't even know where to start - even the smallest tasks. It seems I go through seasons when struggles can make me feel like I can't hear God, so I question everything.

I am reminded time and time again that my struggles are not proof that God has forgotten me. God's promises do not become false just because our journeys might become difficult.

Our pastor said something in church Sunday that has stuck with me, and I have been thinking on it. He said, "We must keep walking until we see what God said." To me, that means I have to continue trusting and having faith even when my mind might not understand, my eyes can't see the answer, and my heart might feel discouraged. God is still faithful.

There might not be an instant answer. Impatience could become an issue. There might be frustration in not being able to understand what seems like a delay. We might get tired, down, and sometimes even tempted to turn around. However, God wants us to keep walking. We must keep believing and trusting Him. God doesn't want us to allow what we see on the road we are walking to cause us to abandon what He has said in His Word. In Habakkuk 2:3, the Bible says, "For the vision awaits its appointed time....if it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay."

God's timing is perfect. He sees the entire picture when we see just a glimpse. At times, delays are for our protection. On some occasions, when we are struggling, God is preparing us to be able to minister to someone else when they are struggling. God can use our struggles to strengthen our own faith and develop our character while we continue walking.

Struggles do not mean God has abandoned us or that we are heading in the wrong direction. We can't stop just because our journey seems hard. Struggles enable us to trust, be obedient, and keep walking.

I can honestly say there are days that my pace is slow when I am struggling. I'm sure yours can be as well. The point is, don't give up. I have learned that I only have to have enough faith to take the next step, and God is always right there with me. Every step we take in obedience brings us closer to trusting God and having faith that He has all the answers.

Don't stop in the middle of the road. Keep walking.

Our struggles are not the end of our story; they are just a part of our journey. I have learned that we all struggle. We can't give up in the midst of the struggle. We have to keep walking, keep trusting, and keep believing God. His promises are true, and He is always faithful. Do not stop in your struggle. Do not give up on the journey. Keep walking until you see what God said.
