Time to remember the sanctity of human life

The late President Ronald Reagan, a  champion for pro-life causes, proclaimed January 22 of each year would be set aside as National Sanctity of Human Life Day.

January 22 happens to also be the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision to legalize abortion-on-demand in the U.S. in 1973.

Traditionally, churches recognize the third Sunday of January as Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. However, some churches may choose to recognize this day on the Sunday closest to the Anniversary of Roe vs Wade, which is Sunday, January 23.

This year will be the 49th anniversary of the legalization of abortion in America. It also represents that over 63 million babies have lost their lives because of abortion since 1973.

We are anticipating that additional pro-life measures will be introduced this year at the Georgia State Capitol that will reinforce the efforts regarding the heartbeat bill and other laws that are before the federal courts. We need to be in prayer and preparation that “Roe vs. Wade” will be overturned this summer or at least reconfigured to lower the standard of fetal viability.

It is important now more than ever that churches educate and inspire their members to be involved in the pro-life movement. It would be great if every church had a message preached from the pulpit on God’s view of human life this month!

Georgia Life Alliance has helped us provided a bulletin insert that churches can use to help call attention to this important Biblical issue. Please see this downloadable/printable bulletin insert for you to use as you’d like:  https://gabaptist.org/events/sanctity-of-human-life-sunday-2/ .

May this month be a time when call attention to the fact that respect for all human life begins with respect for life in the womb (Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 139). When respect for life is diminished inside the womb, it has a negative impact on the value and sanctity of life outside the womb. Now is the time to trust the Lord’s wisdom on the value of ALL life!
