CLEVELAND, Ga. — Beginning in the fall semester of 2025, the School of Psychology and Biblical Counseling at Truett McConnell University launched two new master’s degree programs that integrate sport psychology with TMU’s existing counseling disciplines.
The new programs — the Master of Arts in Global Mental Health Counseling with Sport Psychology (36-hour track) and the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Sport Psychology (62-hour track) — combine advanced counseling principles with the study of athletic performance and mental resilience. Graduates of these programs will be equipped to address both general psychological concerns and the unique mental health challenges faced by athletes, including performance anxiety, focus during competition, confidence development, and recovery following injury.
Notably, TMU’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Sport Psychology program stands apart as, to the university’s knowledge, the only sport psychology degree in the nation directly tied to the Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) track. This integration allows graduates to pursue additional credentials that expand professional opportunities in both clinical and athletic settings.
Both degree programs are available on campus and online, providing flexibility for working professionals and students across the globe. For more information, contact Kyle Wood, Director of Admissions, at
