Truett McConnell University Community Choir invites singers to join for the Fall semester

CLEVELAND, Ga. — The School of Music at Truett McConnell University is inviting singers from across North Georgia to join its annual Community Choir this fall. The choir will spend the semester rehearsing together and will finish with a special performance alongside a full orchestra of Dan Forrest's Jubilate Deo, a piece written in seven parts based on Psalm 100.

Every fall, the Community Choir brings together singers from local churches and community groups with TMU students to learn and perform a major piece of choral music. This year's piece, Jubilate Deo, is based on the opening line of Psalm 100: "O be joyful in the Lord, all the earth." The choir will sing in seven different languages across the piece's seven sections, reflecting the psalm's message that people from every nation are called to praise God.

For the final performance, the Community Choir will team up with the TMU Chorale to bring the piece to life.

Rehearsal and Performance Details:

  • Rehearsals: Every Tuesday evening, 6:30–8:15 p.m., starting September 1
  • Location: Driskell Building, Truett McConnell University, 100 Alumni Drive, Cleveland, GA
  • Performance: Tuesday, November 17, 7:00 p.m.
  • Performance Venue: First Baptist Church, Cleveland, GA

Joining the choir is free and open to anyone in the community who loves to sing. The School of Music especially hopes local church choir directors will pass along this opportunity to their singers. Participants can expect to grow as singers while enjoying fellowship with fellow community members and TMU students along the way.
