CLEVELAND, Ga. — Truett McConnell University is inviting Northeast Georgia residents to join a historic week of celebration this September as the University officially inaugurates Dr. Larry W. Lyon as its ninth president while commemorating its 80th Anniversary.
Centered on the theme "Called to Faithfulness," the weeklong celebration will feature events for alumni, students, faculty, churches, and the surrounding community. Among the highlights are the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony, the Presidential Inaugural Gala, and a free Community Fall Festival designed for families across the region.
The Presidential Inauguration Ceremony, held on Thursday, September 24, is free and open to the public. The ceremony marks the formal installation of Dr. Lyon as TMU's ninth president and celebrates God's faithfulness throughout the University's eight decades of Christ-centered higher education.
Following the inauguration, the Presidential Inaugural Gala will take place on Friday evening. The black-tie-optional, ticketed event will celebrate both Dr. Lyon's inauguration and the University's 80th Anniversary with an elegant evening centered on the theme, Called to Faithfulness.
The celebration continues Saturday, September 26, with TMU's Community Fall Festival, a free event open to the public from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the University's Front Lawn.
The festival will feature more than 50 local vendors, food trucks, inflatables, bounce houses, games, and activities for the entire family. Community members are encouraged to bring their families and enjoy a day of fellowship and fun on the TMU campus.
Local artisans, small businesses, nonprofits, churches, and food vendors are also invited to participate in the festival. Vendor booth space is free, but registration is required. The deadline to reserve a booth is August 16.
