CLEVELAND, Ga. — Truett McConnell University’s Walpot School of Education launched a new fully online Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Elementary Education, with the first cohort beginning this week.
Designed for licensed teachers seeking professional growth as well as those entering the teaching profession, the program equips educators with advanced skills in pedagogy, curriculum design, child development, and educational technology, all taught through a Christian worldview.
The program will be led by Dr. Malinda Apanay, who recently joined TMU as the Program Coordinator and Lecturer. Dr. Apanay holds a Ph.D. in Education: Curriculum & Instruction and brings both academic expertise and classroom experience to the role. “I am honored to join Truett McConnell University and help launch this program,” Dr. Apanay said. “Our goal is to prepare educators who see teaching as both a profession and a calling, equipping them to lead with excellence, compassion, and a commitment to Christ.”
Taylor Gilleland, Ed.S., Chair of the Walpot School of Education, added: “This program embodies our mission to prepare educators who not only excel in the classroom but also see teaching as a calling rooted in faith. We welcome our first cohort this fall, and the application for the January 2026 is open now.”
The 36-hour degree can be completed in approximately two years and culminates with a capstone project or thesis focused on practical application in the classroom. Courses are delivered 100% online to provide flexibility for working professionals.
