CLEVELAND, Ga. — Truett McConnell University’s (TMU) Felix Manz School of Music is preparing for an exciting and festive fall season, with a variety of musical events planned for the campus and local community.

The first event of the season will take place on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7:00 p.m. in Sewell-Plunkett Hall. The evening will feature a recital by Caleb Ferguson, tenor, and Mrs. Kathy Duren, piano. Mr. Ferguson, who serves as Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Vocal Studies at TMU, is presenting this program in partial fulfillment of his doctoral degree. The performance will include works by Strauss, Wolf, Mahler, and Grieg, and will be followed by a reception in the Sewell-Plunkett Hall lobby. This concert is free and open to the public.

On Saturday, November 15, at 6:00 p.m., the School of Music will host its Second Annual Friends of Music Benefit Concert, featuring performances by TMU music alumni, faculty, and students. Last year’s benefit celebrated the successful fundraising of $30,000 for the purchase of six new studio pianos. This year, the School of Music is prayerfully asking attendees to consider becoming monthly donors to the Friends of Music initiative. These contributions will support specific departmental needs, such as acquiring new timpani for the instrumental department and improving the digital lab, which is used for music composition, arranging, and production.

Reservations for the Friends of Music Benefit Concert are free, and desserts and beverages will be served during intermission. To reserve seats, please contact Kathy Duren at kduren@truett.edu.

Additional information about TMU’s Fall Fine Arts Series, including upcoming guest artist recitals and TMU ensemble concerts, will be announced in the coming weeks.
