MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — The Masters is unlikely to make any changes to its eligibility criteria for next year's tournament, Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley said Thursday, which means fewer players from LIV Golf will be competing in the year's first major.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Looking for someone to motivate his team before facing two-time defending national champion and top-ranked Georgia in one of the Southeastern Conference’s most heated rivalries, Florida’s Billy Napier turned to a guy who knows a thing or two about beating the Bulldogs: The Head Ball Coach.

ATLANTA (AP) — North Carolina had its sights on an Atlantic Coast Conference championship, maybe even a spot in the College Football Playoff. Then, it all came crumbling down. The No. 17 Tar Heels (6-1, 3-1 ACC) are reeling from a shocking, inexplicable 31-27 loss at home to a one-win Virginia team that wiped out their best start in more than a quarter-century.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — Rookie Bijan Robinson said Wednesday he is “all good” and ready to return to his lead role in the Atlanta Falcons’ running game after he didn’t feel well and was limited to one carry in last week’s win at Tampa Bay. Robinson had full participation in the portion of practice that was open to reporters on Wednesday. He appears to be on track to start in this Sunday’s game at Tennessee.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Victor Wembanyama has commanded a lot of the headlines in the NBA offseason. But fellow rookie Brandon Miller proved in the season opener that he can play a little, too. P.J. We’re trying to win every game, so it really doesn’t matter. We go into every game with the same mindset.”

HOUSTON (AP) — Max Scherzer is set to pitch another Game 7 in Houston with visiting teams undefeated in the series. This time, Mad Max will be trying to win a pennant for the Texas Rangers. Scherzer will start the deciding game of the AL Championship Series on Monday night. It comes four years after the three-time Cy Young Award winner started Game 7 of the World Series for Washington as the Nationals beat the Astros at Minute Maid Park in the only best-of-seven postseason series that went the distance without the home team winning a single game.

The margin between No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Michigan in The Associated Press college football poll is the smallest it has been all season. Can the Wolverines break the Southeastern Conference's three-year stranglehold on No. 1 — all Georgia and Alabama — and become the first team from outside the Deep South to hold the top spot in the rankings since Ohio State in 2015?

Three teams are one win from the World Series heading into Monday's playoff doubleheader. First, the Philadelphia Phillies look to close out Arizona at home when they send Aaron Nola to the mound with a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven NL Championship Series. Then it's a decisive Game 7 in the ALCS as three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer and the Texas Rangers face Cristian Javier and the defending champion Astros in Houston.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — It looked as if the Atlanta Falcons' chances to end the NFL's longest active road losing streak literally slipped away from Desmond Ridder's fingers in the fourth quarter. Then, the second-year quarterback showed why the Falcons feel they have their quarterback of the future, connecting with another young budding star, Kyle Pitts, on a 39-yard pass play in the final minute to set up a game-winning field goal that not only ended an eight-game road skid but lifted the Falcons (4-3) into first place in the NFC South.
