ATLANTA (AP) — Eddie Rosario normally expects to need more than one pitch to pick up San Francisco right-hander Tyler Rogers' submarine delivery. On this night, however, Rosario wasn't waiting. Rosario had four hits, including a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning, and the Atlanta Braves beat the San Francisco Giants 6-5 on Saturday night for their fifth straight win.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Damar Hamlin has little more to prove to Bills coach Sean McDermott in the third-year safety’s bid to resume his football career after a near-death experience during a game at Cincinnati in January. “From my non-medical standpoint, I think he’s checked all the boxes as far as that goes,” McDermott said on Thursday.

ATLANTA (AP) — Charlie Morton recorded 10 strikeouts in six innings, Eddie Rosario hit a two-run homer and the Atlanta Braves beat New York 2-0 on Wednesday night to complete a three-game sweep and give the struggling Yankees their first losing record of the season.

ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia Tech's string of four consecutive losing seasons may have made Brent Key's 4-4 record after taking over for Geoff Collins last season look promising to some observers. Key wasn't impressed. The former Georgia Tech lineman and offensive assistant who took over as interim coach before landing the full-time job wants to make it clear he's aiming higher than .500.

ATLANTA (AP) — Bryce Elder pitched seven brilliant innings in a combined one-hitter, Ronald Acuña Jr. and Marcell Ozuna went deep and the Atlanta Braves cruised past the reeling New York Yankees 5-0 on Tuesday night. After an 11-3 romp in the series opener, the Braves wasted no time jumping on Luis Severino (2-8), whose dismal season has been marred by atrocious numbers in the first inning.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — It wasn't easy for A.J. Terrell to watch his Atlanta Falcons teammates enjoy their big plays on defense in last week's 19-3 preseason win over the Miami Dolphins when he and the other regulars couldn't join in the fun. Falcons starters were held out of the preseason opener but will have their first opportunity in Friday night's second preseason game against Cincinnati.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves recalled infielder Vaughn Grissom from Triple-A Gwinnett ahead of their game against the New York Yankees on Tuesday night. Grissom, who lost out for the starting shortstop job during spring training, was promoted after the Braves placed second baseman Ozzie Albies on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Georgia isn't ready to talk about a historic three-peat. Not just yet, anyway. The Bulldogs showed no signs of complacency while capturing their second straight national title, and maintaining that edge will be essential to becoming the first school in the poll era to make it three in a row.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves gave New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone “a little peek into where you're trying to get to.” That peek revealed a concerning gap between the Braves, who own the majors' best record, and the last-place Yankees. Max Fried allowed two runs in his first home start in more than three months, Nicky Lopez had three hits and three RBIs in a fill-in role, and the Braves beat the Yankees 11-3 on Monday night.

ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies was held out of the lineup for Monday night's game against the New York Yankees, his first missed start of the season. Albies was pulled from the Braves' 7-6 loss at the New York Mets on Sunday with cramping in his left hamstring. Braves manager Brian Snitker said Albies was “still feeling it a little bit” on Monday. Nicky Lopez is the fill-in starter at second base.

Georgia will begin its drive for an unprecedented college football championship three-peat as the No. 1 team in The Associated Press preseason Top 25. The Bulldogs received 60 of 63 first-place votes in the poll released Monday to easily outpoint No. 2 Michigan, which received two first-place votes and has its best preseason rankings since being No. 2 in 1991. The Wolverines' Big Ten rival, Ohio State, is No. 3 with one first-place vote.

Ronald Acuña Jr. is on pace to create an entirely new club for baseball's top power-and-speed threats. Acuña stole his 55th base Sunday night in Atlanta's 7-6 loss to the New York Mets. The star outfielder also has 26 home runs. No player has ever reached 30 homers and 60 steals in the same season.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons waived 2022 starting linebacker Mykal Walker in a surprise move Sunday. On Friday night, Walker started and had four tackles in the Falcons' 19-3 preseason win at Miami. Falcons coach Arthur Smith did not play most of his projected starters against the Dolphins.

Stetson Bennett passed for 191 yards and a touchdown in his first NFL action for the Los Angeles Rams in a 34-17 preseason loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Bennett and Max Duggan suited up for their …

NEW YORK (AP) — Ozzie Albies homered and drove in six runs, and the Atlanta Braves pounded the New York Mets 21-3 on Saturday in the opening game of a doubleheader.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Georgia's new offensive coordinator is hardly a stranger. Mike Bobo played quarterback for the Bulldogs back in the 1990s. He worked on Mark Richt's coaching staff for more than a decade, including a lengthy stint calling the plays. Despite all that familiarity, Bobo might be under more scrutiny than anyone associated with the two-time defending national champs.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Michael Lorenzen walked to the mound to start the ninth inning — of just his second start with the Phillies, his first in Philadelphia — engrossed in the passion of fans roaring for him to complete a no-hitter, and considered the scene the coolest moment of his baseball career. “Just walking out of the dugout, hearing the fans go wild, it gave me the chills,” Lorenzen said. “It gave that boost of energy that I needed, for sure.”

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Orlando Arcia’s two-run double with two outs in the top of the ninth capped a three-run inning and rallied the MLB-best Atlanta Braves to an 8-6 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night after star right fielder Ronald Acuña Jr. left the game. Pirates closer David Bednar (3-2) came on to start the ninth with a 6-5 lead but took his third blown save in 26 opportunities this season.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr. was hit on the left elbow by a pitch from Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Colin Holderman in the sixth inning on Tuesday night and left the game. The Braves said X-rays were negative and Acuña is considered day to day.

MIAMI GARDENS (AP) — Atlanta Falcons rookie cornerback Clark Phillips III was carted off the practice field with a leg injury during Tuesday's joint practice with the Miami Dolphins. Phillips went down after trying to break up a pass toward the end of practice and was helped up by trainers. He appeared to barely put any weight on his lower left leg before being carted off.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Rookie infielder Liover Peguero had two hits in a six-run third inning and the Pittsburgh Pirates chased Spencer Strider early before holding off the Atlanta Braves for a rain-delayed 7-6 victory Monday night. Connor Joe homered in the fourth to help the fourth-place Pirates hand the major league-leading Braves their third consecutive defeat. Pittsburgh ended an eight-game losing streak to Atlanta that dated to 2021.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — The United States played its best game of this Women's World Cup and it wasn't good enough to stop the two-time reigning champions from being eliminated in the round of 16. The Americans' bid to win an unprecedented third consecutive title ended Sunday on penalty kicks.

CHICAGO (AP) — Cody Bellinger had his third straight multi-hit game, scored twice and drove in a run as the Chicago Cubs beat the MLB-leading Atlanta Braves 6-4 on Sunday for their sixth straight series win. Dansby Swanson added a double and two RBIs against his former team, and Ian Happ drove in a pair of runs, helping the Cubs win for the 15th time in 19 games.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — New Atlanta Falcons linebacker Kaden Elliss looks across the line of scrimmage at training camp and sees all the pieces of a balanced, productive offense. Elliss also sees a big “if” at quarterback, which is the obvious key to the success of the offense and the team. The Falcons are hoping Desmond Ridder, who has impressed teammates, coaches and management with his poise and command in his second training camp, can end the team's streak of five straight losing seasons.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have baseball's best record. Now, they're getting their best pitcher back. Max Fried is set to rejoin the Braves' rotation on Friday when the team opens a weekend series in Chicago against the Cubs, providing a huge boost to a team that already is a leading World Series contender.
