TORONTO (AP) — Pascal Siakam scored 33 points, Scottie Barnes had 27 points and 10 rebounds and the Toronto Raptors beat the Atlanta Hawks 135-128 on Wednesday night to end a four-game losing streak.

ATLANTA (AP) — Jarred Kelenic is eager to change the narrative after his trade to the Atlanta Braves. He doesn't want to be another prized prospect who fails to live up to lofty expectations. For sure, he doesn't want to be remembered mostly as the guy who foolishly broke his foot kicking a water cooler in frustration. “I'm looking forward to a fresh start,” Kelenic said Wednesday.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Jonas Aidoo had 29 points and 11 rebounds, and No. 12 Tennessee beat Southern 74-56 on Tuesday night. The winless Eagles (0-10) had no answer for the 6-foot-11 Aidoo, who also had two steals and two blocks. Aidoo was the only double-digit scorer for the Volunteers (7-3).

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — The Turkish Football Federation has suspended all league games in the country after a club president punched the referee in the face at the end of a top-flight match. MKE Ankaragucu president Faruk Koca attacked referee Halil Umut Meler on the pitch late Monday after the final whistle, following a 1-1 draw in a Super Lig game against Caykur Rizespor.

NEW YORK (AP) — The day before Jayden Daniels won the Heisman Trophy he was asked if he would return to LSU for another season next year. “I can't,” he said. Oh, right. The careers of college quarterbacks might feel endless these days, but even with the bonus COVID year the NCAA handed out for those in college in 2020, Daniels is done after playing five seasons.

ATLANTA (AP) — The final play summed up the entire day for the Atlanta Falcons. Really, the entire season. With one last chance to pull out a victory that had been snatched away in the final minute, Desmond Ridder saw Drake London breaking loose over the middle and delivered a pass right on the numbers.

ATLANTA (AP) — Baker Mayfield knew the Falcons would be devoting plenty of attention to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. So, with a chance to pull out a victory the Tampa Bay Buccaneers absolutely had to have, Mayfield looked elsewhere. Cade Otton hauled in an 11-yard touchdown pass with 31 seconds remaining, capping a wild fourth quarter that pushed the Buccaneers into a tie for first place in the wobbly NFC South with a 29-25 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Southern California receiver Brenden Rice will forgo his final season of eligibility and enter the NFL draft. The son of Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice made the announcement Friday on social media.

Mekhi Mews, who came to Georgia as a walk-on and carved out a significant role on offense and special teams, has entered the transfer portal. The receiver and punt returner played in all 13 games this season, finishing with 13 receptions for 155 yards and a touchdown.

ATLANTA (AP) — If the Atlanta Falcons can string together their first three-game winning streak since 2019, they'd take a huge step toward breaking an even longer drought. The first-place Falcons (6-6) lead the NFC South despite their so-so record heading into the final month of the season.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Noah Thomasson scored 16 points, Justin Hill added 14 points and Georgia beat rival Georgia Tech 76-62 on Tuesday night. Georgia (6-3) jumped out to a led 28-14 in the first half as Georgia Tech started the game making just 6 of 27 shots. The Yellow Jackets missed 10 straight field goals over a five-minute span.

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Simeon Cottle drilled a 3-pointer from the right wing as time ran out, Quincy Adekokoya scored 22 points and Kennesaw State beat UNC Asheville 79-76 in overtime on Tuesday night. Jamel King blocked Drew Pember's layup attempt from behind as time ran out in regulation to give the Owls a chance to win in overtime.

ATLANTA (AP) — Jay'Den Turner had 19 points in Georgia State's 89-57 win against Middle Georgia State on Monday night. Turner also contributed six rebounds for the Panthers (4-4). Toneari Lane scored 15 points while going 5 of 13 (3 for 11 from 3-point range). Julian Mackey had 14 points and shot 4 for 10 (2 for 5 from 3-point range) and 4 of 5 from the free throw line.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Notre Dame safety Xavier Watts won the Bronko Nagurski Award given to the nation’s top defensive player on Monday night. The award was presented at the annual ceremony put on by the Charlotte Touchdown Club.

LSU's Jayden Daniels, Oregon's Bo Nix and Washington's Michael Penix Jr., transfer quarterbacks who have all played at least five college seasons, and Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. were announced as the Heisman Trophy finalists on Monday night.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons are back at .500 and have a bit of breathing room atop the NFC South. Their defense deserves all the credit. The first-place Falcons (6-6) continue to struggle with the ball in their hands, but the guys on the other side of the line bailed them out again in an ugly 13-8 win over the New York Jets on Sunday.

SEATTLE (AP) — The Atlanta Braves acquired outfielder Jarred Kelenic, pitcher Marco Gonzales and infielder Evan White from the Seattle Mariners on Sunday night for right-handed pitchers Cole Phillips and Jackson Kowar. The move added a veteran lefty to the Braves pitching staff, along with Kelenic, who at one time was one of baseball's top young prospects.

There will be plenty to miss when college football undergoes myriad changes next season. A traditional Pac-12. Regional conferences and rivalries. The Rose Bowl kicking off on New Year's Day. A College Football Playoff with not enough spots to accommodate deserving teams? Good riddance.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The rain was falling, penalty flags were flying and the Atlanta Falcons kept slogging away. Desmond Ridder threw a 20-yard pass to MyCole Pruitt in the second quarter for the game's only touchdown and the Falcons took over sole possession of first place in the NFC South with an ugly 13-8 victory over the punchless New York Jets on a dreary Sunday.

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (AP) — Florida State won every game this season. Georgia won 29 in a row, including back-to-back national championships, then lost by a field goal. And neither was deemed good enough by the College Football Playoff committee. A trip to the Orange Bowl is what two very angry teams will get instead.

The final season of the four-team College Football Playoff turned out to be the most controversial with an unprecedented snub. Michigan, Washington, Texas and Alabama were selected Sunday and Florida State became the first unbeaten Power Five conference champion to be excluded from the field.

Michigan is No. 1 in The Associated Press college football poll for the first time since it won its last national championship in 1997 while Georgia slipped to No. 6 on Sunday after its 29-game winning streak was snapped by Alabama.

ATLANTA (AP) — Alabama is again the top dog in the Southeastern Conference — and perhaps headed to the College Football Playoff — after ending Georgia’s 29-game winning streak with a 27-24 victory over the No. 1 Bulldogs in the Southeastern Conference championship game Saturday.

The Georgia Bulldogs are already in rarified territory. With three more victories, they'll have every right to call themselves the greatest team in college football history. The top-ranked Bulldogs haven't lost a game in 727 days.

Paul Snyder, the behind-the-scenes architect of the Atlanta Braves' rise to prominence in the 1990s, has died, the team announced Friday. He was 88.
