ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons have hired Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as their head coach after an exhaustive search that included six-time Super Bowl winner Bill Belichick, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Thursday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team had not made an announcement.

CLEVELAND, Ga. – On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University men's basketball team hosted Bryan College for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Bears put up a tough fight against the Lions, but ultimately fell to a final score of 82-73. TMU falls to an overall record of 9-11, 7-9 AAC, while BC rises to a record of 10-9, 8-8.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — For Dejan Milojević, the Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks stood united on one sideline near their team benches and listened as the Serbian national anthem played in his honor. Each Warrior player then placed an extra jersey with Milojević's name on the back worn during warmups on one of the coaching chairs, which also featured a special black T-shirt with the word "BRATE” draped over the seat — brate is the word in Serbian for brother, as their coach called them all.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — With several of his players overcome by emotions just moments before tip-off after celebrating the assistant coach they dearly miss, Steve Kerr stuck to his message: “Try to lose yourself in the game.” Stephen Curry had 25 points and eight assists, Klay Thompson scored 24, and the Golden State Warriors won Wednesday night in their first game back after the death of assistant coach Dejan Milojević last week, beating the Atlanta Hawks 134-112.

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — KJ Johnson had 27 points in North Alabama's 90-84 win against Kennesaw State on Wednesday night. Johnson shot 6 of 12 from the field and 14 for 15 from the line for the Lions (8-12, 2-4 Atlantic Sun Conference).

Mercer falls to The Citadel 68-66

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Elijah Morgan's 21 points helped The Citadel defeat Mercer 68-66 on Wednesday night. Morgan's 3-pointer with 42 seconds left capped a comeback from a 14-point halftime deficit.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — Carolina defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero met again with the Atlanta Falcons to discuss their head coaching vacancy on Wednesday, joining Rams assistant Raheem Morris and former Patriots coach Bill Belichick in receiving second interviews.

ATLANTA (AP) — Carlton Carrington scored 19 points and reserve Ishmael Leggett scored 14 points and Pittsburgh beat Georgia Tech 72-64 on Tuesday night. Jaland Lowe and reserve Guillermo Diaz Graham each scored 12 points for Pitt (12-7, 3-5 ACC), which showed no letdown after its 80-76 win against No. 7 Duke on Saturday. ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Former Georgia mascot Uga X, whose eight-year run included back-to-back national championships, died Tuesday. Uga X, part of the line of English bulldog mascots which began in 1955, was 2 when he began his run on the Sanford Stadium sideline in 2015.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Harrison Barnes scored 32 points and the Sacramento Kings beat the short-handed Atlanta Hawks 122-107 on Monday night to snap a four-game losing streak. “I thought he was really aggressive,” Kings coach Mike Brown said. “He scored in multiple areas on the floor tonight. That was a lot of fun to see.”

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons have interviewed their 12th and 13th candidates for their head coaching vacancy, adding Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik to a list of candidates that includes Bill Belichick and Jim Harbaugh. The Falcons announced Sunday night they conducted a virtual interview with Johnson following the Lions' 31-23 win over Tampa Bay in the NFC divisional round.

ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young was diagnosed with a concussion after getting elbowed in the face during a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers and will be out indefinitely, the team said Sunday. Young left Saturday night's game with 8:43 remaining after taking a charge from Cavaliers forward Isaac Okoro and accidentally getting elbowed.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Georgia's Jabri Abdur-Rahim scored 34 points but was unable to lift the Bulldogs over a hot shooting Kentucky team. The 105-96 loss to the Wildcats was the Bulldogs' first loss on the road this season after entering as one of four Division I squads unbeaten away from home.

Issac McKneely hit six 3-pointers and finished with 20 points, Reece Beekman added 19 points and a season-high 11 assists Saturday night to help Virginia beat Georgia Tech 75-66.

Cam Bryant had 19 points in Georgia Southern's 86-70 victory against Georgia State on Saturday night.

(AP) — Eren Banks had 19 points and Nate Brafford scored the game's final three points at the free-throw line in the final 26 seconds to help Georgia Southern fend off Coastal Carolina 73-70 on Thursday night. Banks was 6 of 9 shooting, including 4 for 6 from 3-point range, and went 3 for 4 from the foul line for the Eagles (3-15, 3-3 Sun Belt Conference).

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons are planning for a second interview with Bill Belichick after talking with Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson for the head coaching vacancy on Thursday. Belichick made the Falcons his first known interview on Monday since leaving the New England Patriots. Belichick won a record six Super Bowls in his 24 seasons with New England. He will be the first candidate to have a second interview with Atlanta.

ATLANTA (AP) — Bogdan Bogdanovic did not remember much about the game, even though the Atlanta Hawks won a thriller with a basket at the buzzer. All he could think about was his friend. Bogdanovic played with a lump in his throat Wednesday night after fellow Serbian Dejan Milojević, an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, died after suffering a heart attack at age 46.

ATLANTA (AP) — There were differing versions of whether the Atlanta Hawks wanted to call a timeout to set up their final shot. Dejounte Murray made it a moot point. Murray hit a 17-foot jumper as time expired to give Atlanta a 106-104 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night.
